CANDLER COUNTY — Elections for county coroner in Georgia often become surprisingly heated and controversial.

The latest controversy in a coroner’s race? The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate missing campaign sings in Candler County in the coroner’s race.

According to the GBI, On Wednesday, April 8, Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney Hayward Altman asked the agency to investigate allegations that political campaign signs involving the coroner’s race were being stolen in Candler County.

The GBI investigation is looking into the theft allegations. The investigation is active and ongoing.
