JACKSON — A 47-year-old man who was shot to death in an Ingles parking lot may have been shot by his stepson, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The Jackson Police Department and the GBI arrested 22-year-old Justin Tyler Davenport, of Jackson, and charged him with murder. Davenport was booked into the Butts County Detention Center.

The charges stem from a shooting that occurred just after 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Butts County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a call regarding a person who was shot and not breathing in the Ingles parking lot in Jackson.  Deputies responded to the area and discovered 47-year-old Terry Don Crawford dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

According to the GBI, the preliminary investigation revealed that Davenport shot Crawford and that Davenport is Crawford’s stepson.
