A Fulton County jail inmate escaped Thursday morning but didn’t make it far before being recaptured, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said. The inmate is Demetrius Burkes.
The sheriff’s office said Burkes is back in custody. It did not say where he was found or how long he was outside the jail.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains open. It said it would not release more details Thursday.
