NORCROSS — Three cars were burned at a Gwinnett County auto shop and firefighters suspect arson. The fire occurred early Friday morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 12:35 a.m. Friday, August 14. A passerby saw smoke and flames coming from the vehicles in the parking lot at the C & D Auto Performance.

Firefighters arrived to find two sedans and a box truck engulfed in flames. The fire destroyed all three vehicles and caused moderate-cosmetic damage to three additional vehicles parked in close proximity.

A Fire Investigator responded to the scene to conduct an origin and cause investigation. The automotive shop was closed at the time of the fire and no one was at the business when fire crews arrived. There was no indication of an engine compartment fire in any of the vehicles and no other reason for the fire to have ignited.

“According to the Fire Investigator, unknown person(s) may have gained unlawful access to the property and intentionally set the fire,” said fire department spokesman Tommy Rutledge.

Anyone with information about the blaze is asked to contact the Gwinnett Fire Investigations Section at 678.518.4890 or the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1.800.282.5804.

Georgia Arson Control Inc. offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson. Arson is considered a serious felony crime and is punishable by imprisonment and associated fines.
