Arrest made in Social Circle double homicide

SOCIAL CIRCLE -- Police have charged a 19-year-old Athens man with murder in the investigation into a double-homicide last month in social circle.

SOCIAL CIRCLE — Police have charged a 19-year-old Athens man with murder in the investigation into a double-homicide last month in social circle.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Tommy Charles Webb, Jr. was charged with murder. He was in the Clarke Co. jail for a parole violation. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

According to investigators, preliminary information indicates that Social Circle Police Officers responded to Thurman Baccus Road May 15 for a report of two individuals found on the road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man and a woman both with apparent gunshot wounds. 

The victims were identified as 27-year-old James Robert Evans and 32-year-old Jaymine Whitlock.

Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene, but both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
