A 21-year-old man is dead, and a suspect is behind bars after a fatal shooting in Cobb County Wednesday morning.

  • The shooting happened at 10:42 a.m. on February 5 at 2359 Windy Hill Road.
  • Police found Jabril Blount, 21, of Roswell, with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.
  • Investigators say Eric Townsend, 53, of Alabama, turned himself in to Smyrna police.
  • Townsend was transferred to Cobb County custody and charged with Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault.
  • Police have notified the victim’s family.

The Details: Cobb County Police responded to the scene after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found Blount suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Shortly after, police say Townsend turned himself in to Smyrna Police. He was later handed over to Cobb County authorities, where he now faces murder and assault charges.

Detectives are still working to determine what led to the deadly shooting.
