A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in Statesboro for allegedly hiding under a 12-year-old girl’s bed. Police actions stem from a report made by the girl’s parent, who suspected inappropriate contact between her daughter and the teen.
The Statesboro Police Department received the call and dispatched officers to the family’s home. Following the parent’s notification, she took her daughter to the police department, where officers continued their investigation. Upon arrival, they located Christopher Grant, the suspect, hiding under the bed of the girl.
In addition to his apprehension, officers discovered Grant unlawfully possessed a handgun. They noted that the firearm had its serial number obliterated, a serious violation of firearm laws. The presence of a weapon in this context substantially escalates the gravity of the alleged offenses.
Following the completion of the investigation, Grant was taken to the Bulloch County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including:
- Aggravated child molestation
- Sodomy
- Possession of an article with an altered serial number
- Possession of a handgun by a person under 18
- Criminal trespass
