Starting October 7, riders who use the Brookhaven Station on the MARTA Gold Line will need to adjust their travel plans. The station will temporarily close until November 15 while construction crews work on replacing the 40-year-old pavers on the rail platform. Though rail service on the Gold Line will continue, trains will not stop at Brookhaven Station during the construction period.
The Details: During this time, MARTA will provide shuttle services to help bridge the gap for passengers. Bus shuttles will connect Brookhaven with nearby Lenox Station to the south and Chamblee Station to the north. Local bus services that stop at Brookhaven (Routes 8, 25, 47, and 110) will not be affected and will continue to run as scheduled.
For those who park at Brookhaven and ride the train, MARTA recommends parking at nearby Lenox, Chamblee, or Doraville stations, where free daily parking is available. Pedestrians or passengers transferring from the bus system can take the shuttle buses to either Lenox or Chamblee stations to continue their trip.
Why It Matters: The temporary closure may cause some inconvenience for Brookhaven Station riders, but it is part of MARTA’s efforts to improve infrastructure. The replacement of the aging pavers is a necessary upgrade for the station’s long-term functionality and safety.
