Georgia Sheriff’s Offices are known for their humorous social media posts. Usually, these are short quips, but a much longer post chock full of hilarity is garnering quite a bit of attention today.

Below is today’s offering from the Candler County Sheriff’s office.

🚨 Attention, Candler County: Common Sense Isn’t So Common 🚨

Folks, it’s time for a little chat. It seems some of y’all have been hitting the snooze button on your common sense alarm. Let’s go over a few things before you end up with a new set of bracelets (and no, they’re not the fancy kind).

TOO MANY ADS? GO AD-FREE
Did You Know?: The ads you see on this site help pay for our website and our work. However, we know some of our readers would rather pay and not see ads. For those users we offer a paid newsletter that contains our articles with no ads.
What You Get: A daily email digest of our articles in full-text with no ads.

1. Don’t Text and Drive– Unless you’re texting us to say, “I’m about to crash,” maybe keep your eyes on the road. We promise your memes will still be there when you park. And if you crash while texting, that “LOL” might just land you in our lovely accommodations for the night.

2. Shoplifting Isn’t an Extreme Sport– We know times are tough, but if you think shoving a TV down your pants is a good idea, it’s time to reevaluate your life choices. Also, FYI: We see you. We always see you.

3. Keep Your “Home Business” Legal– If your side hustle involves anything that comes in a Ziploc bag and smells suspicious, just know that business hours will be cut short when we show up. Entrepreneurship is great, but let’s keep it above board, okay?

4. Running from the Cops Is So 1990s– You’re not Usain Bolt, and we’re not a fan of cardio. Just pull over and save us all the trouble. Spoiler alert: We’ve got radios and we use them.

5. Social Media Is Not a Confession Booth– Pro tip: Bragging about your “adventures” on Facebook Live is a one-way ticket to us finding you faster than you can say “#FreeMe.” Keep it offline, or better yet, just don’t do it.

Remember, we’re here to help, but we’re also here to remind you that some things are just plain stupid. Let’s all aim to keep our names out of the blotter this week, shall we?

Have a great Tuesday! Oh, you can follow the Candler County Sheriff’s Office here.
