Falling tree kills Snellville woman who was walking her dog

SNELLVILLE -- A Snellville woman was killed Thursday morning when a large-tree fell across the roadway as she was walking her dog in the neighborhood.

SNELLVILLE — A Snellville woman was killed Thursday morning when a large-tree fell across the roadway as she was walking her dog in the neighborhood.

Firefighters and police responded to the scene around 11:16 a.m.

The incident occurred on Capot Court in unincorporated Snellville. The woman was pinned by the tree and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The dog was injured during the incident and was turned over to an Animal Welfare officer at the scene for further veterinary care. The woman’s husband was not home at the time and was contacted by police. The Fire Department is unable to release the name of the woman or provide specific injury information due to Federal Patient Privacy Laws known as HIPAA.
