As of 7 p.m. Monday, DeKalb County became the third county in Georgia to surpass the 1,000 case mark for COVID-19.
According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, DeKalb now has 1,006 confirmed coronavirus cases and 15 deaths from the virus.
Fulton County leads the state in number of coronavirus cases with 1,635 confirmed cases and 52 deaths. Dougherty County has 1,245 cases and 78 deaths.
In DeKalb, there are 134 confirmed cases per 100,000 people in the county. By comparison, Fulton County has 150 confirmed cases per 100,000 people and Dougherty has 1,333 cases per 100,000 people.

Of the 15 coronavirus deaths recorded in DeKalb County, only three of the people who died were under age 65. The youngest death recorded in DeKalb was a 31 year old man with underlying conditions. The oldest was a 96 year old woman with underlying conditions.
Of the 15 people who died in the county, 12 had known underlying conditions.
Statewide, there have been 13,621 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Georgia and 480 people have died from COVID-19.
