During their investigation, authorities revealed that Lopez and the victim, whose identity has not been released pending next-of-kin notification, shared a bedroom in the residence at 3200 Ivy Birch Way.

According to the Gwinnett County Police, a dispute between the two men escalated when Lopez reportedly used a television cable to choke the victim into unconsciousness before leaving the room, only to return with a knife, inflicting fatal stab wounds.
