Two DeKalb County day care workers were arrested and charged with cruelty to children after a child’s mother reported what she saw on a video.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office reports that the two suspects have surrendered without incident to the custody of the DeKalb County Jail.

Warrants were issued on July 28 by the Clarkston Police Department for the arrest of Decatur resident Autumn Coney and for Lithonia resident Bernetta Glover.

Both are charged with cruelty to children in the first degree.

According to the warrants, both suspects are accused of maliciously causing a minor child cruel or excessive physical or mental pain by subjecting the child to physical and verbal assault on July 6 at a day care at 4007 Church Street in Clarkston.

The warrants were based on a video from the school by the victim’s mother.

Coney surrendered on Aug. 1 and was released on bond. Glover surrendered on Aug. 4, and remains in custody without bond at the DeKalb County Jail.
