Two 12-year-old girls were shot during an attempted robbery in Savannah

Savannah Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that resulted in the shooting of two 12-year-old girls Friday.

At about 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a local hospital on a report of two girls, both 12-years-old, who were transported there by private vehicle, with non-life-threatening shooting injuries.

According to police, an adult relative and the girls were at a park on the 3900 block of Boyd Street. Two unknown suspects approached the group in an attempt to rob the adult. The attempt resulted in one suspect firing shots, which struck the victims. The adult was uninjured.

The suspects are described as black men in their late teens. Both are reported to have worn dark clothing during the incident.
