A Georgia sex offender who was released from jail is now missing

Gwinnett County police detectives are searching for a sex offender who was released from jail, May 17 but who failed to register as a sex offender upon leaving prison.

Andrew Wesley Dix’s family says they never heard from him after he was released, and reported him as missing. According to family members he has some mental health conditions that may cause him to act erratically.

Police are also searching for Dix because he has an outstanding warrant for failure to register as a sex offender upon his release.

Police are asking anyone who encounters Dix to call 911.  Anyone with information on Dix’s whereabouts should contact police at 770-513-5300.  To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.  Crime Stoppers tipsters can receive up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.  The case number is  18-046450.
