Arrest made in attempted Gwinnett County church burglary

Gwinnett Police have identified the suspect in an attempted burglary at a church last week. Anthony Dean Scoggins Jr., of Grayson was taken into custody and police say he has been linked to other thefts in the recent months.

According to police, on May 10 Scoggins drove into the parking lot of Grafted Church at 2149 Five Forks Trickum Road in near Lawrenceville.

According to police, Scoggins attempted to enter the front doors of the church with no success. He then moved to the back doors and entered the church, which triggered the church’s alarm system. He then ran back to a gray four-door Kia and fled the area.

Police are looking for a white male who was captured on video wearing a blue Hurley baseball hat, blue and white striped shirt, khaki pants, brown shoes, and a light colored watch. His vehicle is described as a gray newer model four door Kia.
