Residents in parts of southwest Georgia are being told to get inside as strong thunderstorms push through the region Thursday afternoon.
What’s happening: Weather forecasters issued two storm warnings for southwest Georgia counties, both set to expire at 3:30 p.m. The storms are capable of producing wind gusts up to 40 mph, strong enough to knock down tree limbs and send unsecured objects flying.
The storms: One storm was tracked at 3:06 p.m. about 7 miles northwest of Coolidge and 11 miles southwest of Moultrie, moving north at 15 mph. It covers Mitchell and Colquitt counties, including Camilla, Moultrie, and Doerun. A second storm was tracked near Thomasville at 2:48 p.m., moving northwest at 10 mph. It covers Thomas County, including Thomasville, Boston, Ochlocknee, Pavo, and Coolidge.
What this means for you: Anyone outside in the affected areas should go inside a building now. Both warnings expire at 3:30 p.m.
