A body was discovered in a vehicle at the Brookhaven MARTA station Tuesday afternoon, prompting an investigation by transit police.

Why It Matters: The death at a busy transit hub raises questions about what happened in a public space used daily by commuters traveling through one of metro Atlanta’s busiest corridors.

What Happened: MARTA police responded to the station parking lot on Peachtree Road near Brookhaven Drive after someone reported finding a person dead inside a silver SUV.

Multiple police units surrounded the vehicle Tuesday afternoon. Aerial footage showed investigators working the scene in the parking lot.

What We Don’t Know: Police have not released the identity of the person found dead or said how they died. The investigation remains active.
