Hazlehurst Mayor John Ramay has added his voice to the resounding call from elected officials far and wide condemning political violence after an assassination attempt on Donald Trump during a rally Saturday evening.
Below is the message from Ramay in its entirety.
As the Mayor of this great city, I feel that it is incumbent upon me to condemn the most recent act of political violence. Earlier today, there was an apparent assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, while speaking at a political rally.
While the former president was injured, it appears that he will be fine. Sadly, one of the attendees was fatally wounded. As Americans, we should all be able to feel free to engage in public activities without fear of violence. No matter which side of the political aisle you are on, I pray that you will never have to fear for your safety because of your beliefs.
In the strongest terms possible, I condemn any form of violence. Diversity of opinion and spirited debate is a good thing, but I believe that Americans should be better than to resort to political violence.
I hope that you will all join me in praying for President Trump and all others who were affected by today’s senseless events. This is something that should never happen. God bless you all and God bless America!!!
The form you have selected does not exist.
