Authorities have made an arrest in connection with two separate death investigations in Macon, following incidents that occurred in September. Both investigations, one on Emery Highway Lane and the other at an Exxon gas station on Spring Street, have been linked to the same suspect, 42-year-old Roy Deon Thornton III of Macon.

• Suspect Arrested: Roy Deon Thornton III, age 42, was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Taskforce on Monday.
• Charges: Thornton faces charges of murder in both cases. He is being held without bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
The Details:
• Emery Highway Lane Incident: On September 17, 2024, deputies responded to a stolen vehicle report and discovered a decomposing body at the dead end of Emery Highway Lane. The body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab for identification and autopsy. Thornton was arrested in connection with this case on October 21.
• Spring Street Shooting: On September 14, 2024, deputies were called to the Exxon gas station at 36 Spring Street, where 40-year-old Tavarus Hunter was found with a gunshot wound. Hunter was transported to a medical facility and initially survived the shooting. However, he succumbed to his injuries on September 23, 2024. Thornton was also linked to this incident and arrested on the same day as the Emery Highway Lane investigation.
