The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a three-year-old child found near a hotel on Riverside Drive early Monday morning. The boy was pronounced dead after deputies determined he had been struck by an unidentified vehicle.
The Details: Around 3:58 a.m., Macon-Bibb E-911 received a call reporting a missing child from a hotel located in the 3900 block of Riverside Drive, just south of North Crest Boulevard. Deputies arrived at the scene and began their search. During their investigation, deputies found the missing child nearby, unresponsive. According to authorities, the boy had been hit by a vehicle that fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Deputy Coroner Richard Robinson pronounced the child dead at the scene, and his body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy to determine more about the incident.
What’s Next: The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate how the child came to be outside near the roadway and the events leading up to the collision. No suspects or vehicle descriptions have been released yet.
