A Westminster Schools coach is still missing five days after his fiancée’s body was pulled from Lake Oconee, leaving Atlanta’s education community reeling.

What’s Happening:

  • Police say Gary Jones, 38, and Jocelyn Wilson, 34, checked into a lakeside hotel Saturday to celebrate his birthday.
  • Their empty boat was spotted circling the lake’s main channel that evening. Wilson’s body was found Sunday near a dock.

🔍 Between the Lines:

  • No life jackets were found on the boat, according to Georgia DNR records. State law doesn’t require adults to wear them.
  • Despite calm conditions Saturday, search teams say underwater timber and 80-foot depths were complicating recovery efforts.

🚤 Search Update: Nine Department of Natural Resources boats, helicopters, and a cadaver dog trained to detect bodies underwater are scouring the lake. Authorities confirm this is the largest operation in Lake Oconee’s history.
