While some neighborhoods may decide to do it differently, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is recommending that with Halloween falling on Friday, residents trick-or-treat on October 31 and not another day.

While it may seem strange for the Sheriff’s office to make such a proclamation, a quick look at local Facebook groups each year at Halloween reveals that many parents aren’t sure which day to go trick-or-treating.

What’s Happening: Halloween will be observed on Friday, October 31. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office recommends trick-or-treating hours from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

What’s Important: Sheriff David Davis is urging residents to be safe while celebrating. The sheriff’s office released a list of tips to help keep children and drivers safe on Halloween night.

Safety First: To help everyone have a safe holiday, the sheriff’s office shared several key tips for families and drivers.

  • For Trick-or-Treaters: Make sure costumes are visible and safe to walk in. Always check candy at home before eating it, and travel in groups with an adult on well-lit streets.
  • For Drivers: Be extra cautious in residential areas. Drive slowly, eliminate distractions, and watch for children who may run into the street unexpectedly.
