Lilburn Skating Rink Rolls to a Close After Four Decades of Community Memories

The wheels are coming to a stop at Skate Along USA in Lilburn, marking the end of an era that has spanned more than four decades in Gwinnett County.

The beloved skating rink announced it will close permanently following its final session on Sunday, August 24th from 3 to 7 p.m., according to a statement from the owners, management and staff.

For over 40 years, Skate Along USA has served as a gathering place for generations of skaters, hosting countless birthday parties, private events, lock-ins and regular skating sessions that became weekend traditions for families and schools across the region.

The rink’s owners expressed deep gratitude to the skating community that has supported the business through the decades.

“Words truly cannot express the gratitude that we feel for all of the skaters who have continued to show us support,” the owners stated in their farewell message to customers.

Until the final day arrives, Skate Along USA will maintain its regular fall schedule. Friday sessions run from 7 to 11 p.m., Saturday sessions from noon to 11 p.m., Sunday sessions from 3 to 7 p.m., and Adult Night on Wednesday from 8 to 11:30 p.m.

The closure represents the loss of one of Gwinnett County’s longest-running family entertainment venues, a place where multiple generations have learned to skate, celebrated milestones and created lasting memories on the rink floor.

For those looking to lace up their skates one final time, the rink’s last session on August 24th offers a chance to say goodbye to a Lilburn institution that has been rolling strong since the early 1980s.
