The Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia will oversee voting rights compliance in Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties during the November 5, 2024, general election.
“Free and fair elections are critical to the democracy of our nation,” stated U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan. “Every eligible voter is entitled to cast a ballot without fear of intimidation, interference, or discrimination. Our office will dedicate the necessary resources to ensure that this fundamental right is protected for all voters.”
Department personnel, including Civil Rights Division representatives, will monitor polling places throughout Election Day, working with state and local election officials to uphold federal civil rights protections. The Division’s Voting Section enforces laws such as the Voting Rights Act and the Help America Vote Act, ensuring accessible and secure voting for all eligible citizens, including those with disabilities.
Voters can report potential violations of voting rights through the Department’s hotline at 800-253-3931, while issues related to the Americans with Disabilities Act can be reported at 800-514-0301.
