As the number of active registered voters in Cherokee County surpasses the 200,000 mark, election officials have announced the addition of a second ballot drop box to meet state requirements and improve access. The new drop box is located at the Oak Grove Fire Station Community Center in Acworth, and both boxes will be available for use during the advance voting period.

The Details: Under Georgia law, counties must provide one ballot drop box for every 100,000 active registered voters. With the recent growth in Cherokee County’s voter rolls, officials are responding by adding a second box. Additionally, new State Election Board rules mandate video monitoring of ballot drop boxes to enhance security measures.

The new ballot drop box location is:

Oak Grove Fire Station Community Center: 100 Ridge Mill Court, Acworth

Earlier in September, the county’s Office of Elections and Voter Registration announced a relocation of the original drop box, moving it from the South Annex in Woodstock to the Elections Office in Canton. This shift aligns with the state election board’s new requirements for surveillance, ensuring the location meets all compliance standards.
