Georgia drivers have been ranked among America’s “least improved” drivers, according to a study conducted by Gunther Volvo Coconut Creek. The study analyzed five years of driving data and found that Georgians ranked 31st overall in terms of driver improvement, compared to other states.
Arizona drivers were named the most improved over the five-year period, climbing 41 places from 49th to 8th. Meanwhile, Michigan drivers saw the least improvement, dropping 39 places from 10th to 49th.
Massachusetts, on the other hand, was ranked as the state with the best drivers for three consecutive years. The state performed well in terms of low rates of DUIs and fatalities, as well as high levels of insured drivers.
Mississippi, which was previously ranked as the state with the worst drivers in the country, saw a significant improvement in 2022, but still ranked in 39th place.

Joseph Gunther IV of Gunther Volvo Coconut Creek commented on the findings, stating, “Well, at least we now know which states to avoid going for a road trip through, and which ones to definitely seek out! But the message overall still has to be: drive carefully out there, people.”
The rankings were based on a nationwide assessment that considers factors such as the percentage of insured drivers, DUI arrests per 1,000 drivers, and the number of fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles driven.
