Georgia’s favorite ice cream brand based on search results is really no surprise. Blue Bell captures Georgia’s heart and mind. The Texas-based brand is known for its homemade taste and Southern charm, both of which are working on Georgia residents. Jeni’s Ice Creams scooped up the top spot among local and regional brands.
What’s happening: Trace One used Google Trends data to track search interest across all 50 states. Search bars, not ice cream bars, settled the rankings. The report did not measure sales, consumption or survey answers.
The national scoop: Texas-based Blue Bell led national brands in 22 states and ranked first overall. Ben & Jerry’s led nine states, while Tillamook led eight. Baskin-Robbins ranked second nationwide, followed by Ben & Jerry’s.
Other favorites: Baskin-Robbins, Turkey Hill, Halo Top and Breyers each led national-brand searches in at least one state. In 21 states, the leading regional brand runs scoop shops only in its home state.
Georgia’s regional pick: Jeni’s Ice Creams, based in Columbus, Ohio, drew the most Georgia search interest among local and regional brands.
By the numbers: U.S. producers make about 1.3 billion gallons of ice cream each year. The dairy industry supports more than 26,000 direct jobs and contributes $11.6 billion to the national economy annually.
