WOODSTOCK — A Woodstock homeowner lost several pets in a house fire last night, according to the Woodstock Fire Department.
The Woodstock Fire Department and the Cherokee County Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a home in Buckingham Place in Woodstock at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday.
On arrival, crews were met with heavy fire conditions and initiated an aggressive interior fire attack along with a search for victims. The homeowner and a Woodstock Police officer were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and released. No other people were injured as a result of the fire.
“The homeowner and the officer had attempted to enter the structure to rescue animals inside,” said Assistant Fire Chief Jimmy Eley. “Attempts to rescue the homeowner’s pets including two cats were sadly unsuccessful.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
