Marietta High School just achieved its highest graduation rate in history, with 92.2% of students earning their diplomas within four years.
Why it matters: The milestone places Marietta among metro Atlanta’s top four school districts, outperforming the state average of 87.2% and showing remarkable progress for historically underserved student groups.
What’s happening: The graduation rate has climbed steadily since 2022, with a 6.5 percentage point increase over three years, according to Marietta City Schools data.
The most dramatic improvements came from traditionally vulnerable populations:
- Hispanic students: Up 13.9 percentage points to 89.2%
- Economically disadvantaged students: Up 17 percentage points to 90.4%
- English learners: Up 16.5 percentage points to 81.2%
Between the lines: The gains coincide with Dr. Marvin Crumbs taking leadership of Marietta High School in fall 2023, implementing focused instructional strategies and enhanced student support systems.
