Washington County Public Schools in Georgia just announced a major update to campus safety: the district has officially launched the Centegix Crisis Alert System in every school.

The move, shared Friday afternoon, comes as part of the district’s push to make sure students and staff feel safe and protected during the school day.

What’s new

  • The Centegix system lets school staff instantly call for help during an emergency with the push of a button.
  • It alerts the right people right away—whether that’s administrators, security, or first responders.
  • The idea is to save time in critical situations, where seconds matter.

Behind the rollout

Terry Stephens, the district’s Safety & Security Director, has been busy training teachers and staff since the start of the school year. The district praised his efforts, calling the project an essential step toward keeping schools secure.

Why it matters

School safety has been a growing concern across the country, and districts everywhere are investing in new tech and training. Washington County officials say this system is part of their commitment to making safety a top priority.

The bottom line

Students probably won’t notice much day-to-day—but for staff, this system is meant to give peace of mind and quicker response times if anything goes wrong.
