The Details: The incident unfolded late Friday evening when gunfire erupted at the entrance of the Walmart, prompting a response from law enforcement. The situation, clarified as not being an active shooter event or random, has nonetheless shaken the community.

The suspect, Adrian Jelks, managed to escape the scene before police arrival, leading to an ongoing manhunt. His abandoned vehicle has been recovered, and multiple agencies have joined the search.

More Information: 19-year-old Antavius Holton of Riverdale, succumbed to injuries received as a result of the shooting. A stray bullet incidentally struck a 9-year-old girl. The girl’s injuries have been determined to be non-life-threatening.

In addition, 19-year-old Sandra Romero-Nunez of Fayetteville, has been transported to the Fayette County Jail, pending warrants for Party to a Crime for the offenses of Murder and Aggravated Assault. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided when available.
