MACON — Macon residents are being warned not to pay for raffle tickets claiming to support programs at the Frank Johnson Recreation Center. Macon-Bibb County says the raffle does not exist.
What’s happening: County officials say a man selling the tickets was outside the Kroger on Tom Hill Sr. Boulevard Sunday morning. They say he has sold similar tickets for years.
What the flyer says: The flyer claims the raffle would pay for a youth trip to Wild Adventures in Valdosta. It lists a drawing at the recreation center Nov. 21, 2025, with Walmart gift cards as prizes.
What this means for you: Do not buy tickets for the listed raffle. The recreation center and Macon-Bibb County Recreation are not hosting it.
At the center: County officials say residents who bought tickets have gone to the center seeking answers. Staff have had to stop recreation programs to speak with them.
