COBB COUNTY — A suspect was shot and killed by Cobb County Police late Friday night inside a Walgreens on Cobb Parkway.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred on August 9 at around 11:27 p.m.

Police say officers entered the Walgreens at 2670 Cobb Parkway to arrest a suspect wanted on undisclosed charges.

During the encounter, the suspect, who was reportedly armed, was shot by officers. The suspect was transported to Kennestone Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation, as is standard procedure in police shootings. All further inquiries should be directed to the GBI as they continue their review of the incident.
