Gwinnett County detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Jay-Lan Broughton, a 17-year-old from Duluth, who is accused of robbing multiple victims at gunpoint in Buford earlier this year.
The Details: On May 24, police responded to a 911 call from the 6000 block of Apple Grove Road, where two individuals reported being robbed by a group of five. One victim said that a man, armed with a gun, stole their jewelry, debit card, AirPods, and license.
Detectives investigating the case identified a vehicle linked to the robbery and connected it to Edmond Buggs, a 17-year-old from Lawrenceville. Buggs had already been arrested on separate armed robbery charges. During questioning, Buggs admitted his involvement in the May 24 robbery and identified Broughton as the gunman. This was corroborated by video surveillance footage that captured the crime.
What’s Next? Despite multiple attempts, authorities have not yet located Broughton. Detectives believe he may still be in Gwinnett County and armed with a black handgun. They are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
