A man wanted in connection with two killings in Oklahoma was arrested in Monroe County early Sunday morning after a brief car chase on I-475.

What’s Happening: Monroe County deputies stopped Grant Hoffman Wilson, of Poteau, Oklahoma, at around 12:27 a.m. on March 22. They had received a BOLO, or “be on the lookout” alert, from the Leflore County Sheriff’s Office in Oklahoma, which had been tracking Wilson’s vehicle. He was taken into custody without further incident after a short pursuit on southbound I-475.

What’s Important: Wilson is accused of killing his twin sister and her 17-month-old child in Oklahoma. He was armed when deputies stopped him.

What Was Found: A search of Wilson’s vehicle turned up:

  • A pistol on his person
  • A Browning lever-action rifle and a shotgun
  • Multiple loaded magazines and loose ammunition in various calibers
  • Packed bags with clothing, long-term food supplies, and additional ammunition

What’s Confirmed: Wilson is being held in Monroe County on charges of felony fleeing and obstruction. He is awaiting extradition to Oklahoma, where he will face double homicide charges. Extradition is the legal process by which one state transfers a person to another state to face criminal charges.

The Path Forward: Wilson will remain in Monroe County custody until extradition proceedings are complete, after which he will face double homicide charges in Oklahoma.
