A Stone Mountain woman has been charged with the murder of her mother following a fatal stabbing incident on Deshong Drive.
What’s Happening: Gwinnett County Police have identified the victim as 62-year-old Janet Morris of Stone Mountain. Her daughter, Brittany Morris, 33, has been charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Knife during Commission of a Felony.
Between the Lines: Brittany Morris lived with her mother at the residence where the stabbing occurred. Police quickly identified her as a person of interest in the case.
Detectives, with assistance from intelligence analysts in the SACRC (Situational Awareness and Crime Response Center) and uniform officers, located Brittany Morris shortly after the incident. Following an interview with detectives, she was charged and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail.
