VIDALIA — Car break-ins are on the rise in Vidalia, and police are asking residents to take steps now to protect their vehicles and homes.
What’s happening: The Vidalia Police Department says it has seen an increase in vehicle break-in reports across the community. Police are urging residents to stay alert and take simple precautions to avoid becoming a victim.
What you can do: Police say residents should take the following steps:
- Lock vehicle doors every time, without exception.
- Remove valuables from your car or keep them out of sight.
- Keep garage doors closed and secured.
- Lock home doors during the day and at night.
What’s new: The department issued the advisory Monday after noticing a rise in break-in reports. It is asking anyone who sees something suspicious to call Vidalia police.
