BUCHANAN — Buchanan Police arrested a man who barricaded himself in a home during a standoff with police Monday night.
Buchanan Officers responded to a home on Weatherly Street in reference to a domestic dispute at about 9:15 p.m.
According to police, the male subject refused to speak with officers and barricaded himself in a bedroom.
Deputies with the Haralson County Sheriffs Office responded and assisted in setting up a perimeter around the residence. After several failed attempts to establish communication with the barricaded subject, Georgia State Patrol SWAT was called in.
SWAT forced entry through the bedroom window using their BearCat vehicle and delivered chemical agent through the window.
SWAT then entered the home along with a Police K9 and was able to apprehended the man.
The man was charged with Simple Assault FVA, Criminal Trespass, Obstruction, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He was transported to the local hospital for treatment due to a dog bite.
A rifle was recovered by Buchanan Police Dept inside the house where he was barricaded.
