Murder suspect Fabien Perry, wanted by the Roswell Police Department in connection with the death of Johana Cabrales-Hernandez, has died after an armed confrontation with law enforcement authorities in Colorado.

On July 18, the Roswell Police Department’s ongoing search for Perry led to Aurora, Colorado, where information was gathered that Perry was at a home in the area of North Oswego St.

The Roswell Police Department requested the assistance of the Aurora Police Department, who immediately mobilized resources to apprehend Perry.

What happened next was an intense police standoff that lasted from 12:45 p.m. to 2:18 a.m.

The Aurora Police Department arrived at the home at 12:45 p.m. and were able to evacuate the occupants of the home and acquaintances of the suspect. Perry remained inside while negotiations began between the SWAT team and Perry for him to leave the home unarmed.

At 9:45 p.m. officers on scene heard multiple gunshots from inside the home. At that time, officers did not return fire. They continued to try and communicate with the suspect using the public address system on the Armored Response and Rescue Vehicles that were on scene. Police say Perry remained uncooperative and fired several more rounds throughout the course of the night.

At about 2:18 a.m. police say the suspect exited the home, armed with a rifle. Shots were fired by one Aurora Police Officer and one Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Deputy. Medical care was provided by Aurora Fire Rescue, and the suspect was transported to the hospital where he died from his wounds.

The Back Story

Twenty-seven-year-old Fabien Perry was wanted for murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend, 23-year-old Johana Cabrales-Hernandez.

On July 6 just after midnight, Roswell 911 received a call regarding an injured woman at a home on Old Ferry Way. The initial responding officers found Cabrales-Hernandez inside, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Cabrales-Hernandez’ family became concerned for her welfare after her two young children were abruptly dropped off at a nearby family member’s home by a yet-unidentified person.

The family immediately went to Cabrales-Hernandez’ home where she was found dead.

According to the Roswell Police Department, evidence gathered during the ensuing investigation led to the identification of Perry as the suspect.
