Georgia’s favorite Halloween candy for 2021 may surprise you

The annual list of favorite Halloween candy by state from CandyStore.com is out, and Georgians may be surprised to learn what their state’s favorite candy is.

Nationally, Reese’s cups are the favorite with Skittles coming in at number two. M&Ms, Starburst, Hot Tamales, Sour Patch Kids, Hershey Kisses, Snickers, Tootsie Pops, and Candy Corn are all in the top 10.

However, none of those are the favorite in Georgia. What is the peach state’s favorite? For two years running, Georgians have preferred Swedish Fish. Number two is the Jolly Rancher. Reese’s cups came in at number three on Georgia’s list of top candy.

The data is collected using 14 years of candy sales data.

According to the National Retail Federation, Halloween candy spending should hit a whopping $3Billion this year. That’s a 20% increase over last year and 10% over the previous all time high. 

Other interesting results show that Reese’s Cups jumped Skittles nationally as the favorite candy, Sour Patch and Hot Tamales are closing in on M&Ms, and Candy Corn has dropped in popularity.

In surveys about favorite and least favorite candy, Candy Corn is rated as the worst candy, with Circus Peanuts coming in at No. 2.

The data from CandyStore.com also revealed that the average family spends about $30.40 on Halloween candy.
