A Bibb County convenience store clerk stopped a robbery, but paid a high price in the process.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department, the clerk, Nirmal Prashant was opening the Hillcrest Ave., Hornet store at about 7 a.m. Friday when two men approached him and grabbed him from behind.

During the struggle, Prashant threw a lock at his attackers in an effort to get away. Police say one of the men then fired several shots in Prashant’s direction, striking him in the left leg. The two suspects fled the scene. No robbery was committed.

Prashant was taken to the hospital and treated and has no life-threatening injuries.

The two suspects were described as black males wearing all black with hoodies coving their face.
