Federal agents arrested Zashawntray Pickett, 28, of Rockford, Illinois, who was wanted for the murder of his girlfriend’s 10-month-old baby. The arrest followed a manhunt after the tragic death of the child last month.
Just The Facts: On October 29, 2024, Pickett was charged with first-degree murder after the baby was pronounced dead at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago. The infant’s death marked a grim conclusion to an alleged case of domestic violence.
The FBI tracked Pickett to Atlanta, where he was located in the early hours of November 2. Working alongside Atlanta and DeKalb police, federal agents arrested Pickett without incident.
