In one of the biggest recruiting stories of the year, 5-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, the nation’s No. 2 overall player and top-ranked passer, flipped his commitment from Georgia to Nebraska

Raiola made his announcement on social media Monday afternoon, using a poem to declare that he’ll be following in his father’s footsteps and becoming a Cornhusker in 2024.

Fans were a little caught off guard by the use of a poem, though, and some wondered if he used AI to write it for him. But for the most part, the general feel amongst college football fans was that the announcement was incredibly corny (no pun intended) and cringey.

Here’s what he wrote:

In the realm of college dreams where purpose takes flight,
Enter Dylan Raiola, crafting his narrative in the night.
Once lured by Georgia, where powerhouse glory gleamed,
Yet Nebraska’s purpose in his heart brightly beamed.

In the scarlet and cream, where legacies entwine,
Dylan, like Rodgers, Rozier, and Crouch, a hero in line.
No longer a cog in some powerhouse machine,
But a quarterback, with an even grander ambition unseen.

So fellow fans await, with home in the air,
For Dylan to chose, his purpose to declare.
In a weekend’s decision, destiny calls,
To fulfill his purpose, where a new dynasty enthralls.

Fans were awfully relentless after seeing this. Even Georgia fans admit to being fine with the news, not because of Carson Beck announcing his return in 2024, but because of the cringiness of the poem itself.

“I’m happy to see you flipping but man ain’t gotta be cringey with it,” wrote one.

“Would have never guessed I’d be happy that DR flipped. Then I read this,” wrote a UGA fan.

“I’ve seen few things put out by a College Football FRESHMAN, that screams “I’m full of myself”, like that poem. I literally can’t believe “Big Red’s” PR department let it fly. IF it wasn’t Dylan or his idea, then he needs to slap whoever’s it was. Heck… I hate it’s attached to his flip announcement, otherwise I’d say “it’s not too late to delete this”. But in this case it is. Wow. Reading that made me legit #thankful he chose Lincoln. Ya’ll can have him,” penned a fan.

“No hate towards to the kid, doing what he thinks is best But what on earth is that write up,” added another.

“Did bro really make a whole poem about himself,” a Florida fan said.

“No longer a cog in some powerhouse machine” sounds funny when they’ve literally moved from machine to machine. It’s all very…well, corny. Fitting I suppose.”

“Makes sense the cornhuskers use a corny poem to announce Raiola’s flip,” a TAMU account wrote.
