The University of West Georgia is set to expand its Go West Early dual enrollment program to Coweta County, providing high school students with the opportunity to earn college credits before graduation. Starting in Fall 2024, the program aims to facilitate students’ transition to higher education by allowing them to take courses that will count towards both their high school diploma and college degree.
The program offers a cost-effective solution for students and families, saving them more than $18,000 in tuition, textbooks, and fees. Courses will be conducted at UWG Newnan, with transportation provided for students from local high schools.
Designed to align with high-demand, high-salary career paths, the program includes a variety of classes such as English, U.S. history, college algebra, precalculus, public speaking, and psychology. Additionally, UWG is removing test score requirements for 11th and 12th graders who have a minimum academic GPA of 3.0, making the program more accessible. The application deadline for the 2024/2025 academic year is set for May 1.
The expansion into Coweta County marks a significant step in enhancing educational opportunities for local high school students, promoting a seamless transition to postsecondary education.
