30-year-old woman dies in wrong-way collision on I-285 to I-75 in Cobb County

The Cobb County Police Department is investigating a fatal, wrong-way collision that occurred on I-285 to I-75 North, south of Windy Hill Road early Friday morning.

The preliminary investigation revealed that at about 2:50 a.m., 30-year-old Chassity E. Hogan, of Mableton was traveling south on I-75 in the northbound lanes in a white 2014 Hyundai Elantra. At the same time, 38-year-old Jose R. Henriquez-Tovar, of Orlando was traveling north on the I-285 ramp for I-75 north in the left lane in a blue 2017 Volvo Tractor Trailer.

According to the Cobb County Police Department, Hogan crossed from the right northbound lanes toward the left northbound lanes. The front of the Hyundai collided with the front of the Volvo. The Hyundai was redirected to the North and collided with the guardrail on the shoulder. 

Hogan was pronounced deceased on the scene by personnel from the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Henriquez-Tovar was not injured in the collision. 

This collision remains under investigation and investigators do not expect to file charges. Anyone with information is requested to contact the Cobb County Police Department S.T.E.P. Unit at 770-499-3987.
