ALBANY — A 9-year-old child was shot in the head and killed Sunday night while sleeping in his bed. The child was the victim of an apparent drive-by shooting, according to police.
Police responded to a call of shooting around 11 p.m. in the 1500 block of West Gordon Avenue. Officers arrived and discovered a 9-year-old boy had been shot in the head.
According to the Albany Police Department. the child was in bed sleeping in his bed when a vehicle passing through the area opened fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Albany Police Department is saddened by the tragic loss this city experienced last night. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family,” the police department said in a social media post Monday morning.
