Tropical storm impacts expected in Georgia this afternoon

Tropical Storm Elsa is again a tropical storm and at this time, impacts are expected to resemble a moderate northeaster.

Coastal Georgia is under a Tropical Storm Warning and isolated gusts of up to 45 mph are likely. The area is also under a flood watch due to the expected 3 to 6 inches of rain, but will experience minimal storm surge.

A Tornado Watch is in effect, meaning isolated tornadoes are possible, and there is a high chance of rip currents.

The most likely impacts of the storm are expected to begin at this afternoon, lasting through midnight. Local officials are advising residents to limit travel and shelter in place during the peak hours of the storm.
