ATLANTA — Two carjacking suspects have been arrested in Atlanta on charges stemming from an attempting carjacking on Piedmont Road early this morning.

Police say at approximately 3:35 a.m., Atlanta Police responded to a call of an attempted carjacking at 2591 Piedmont Road. Upon arrival, the victim advised that he was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by two juvenile males. The victim stated said the juveniles opened his car door and demanded that he exit the vehicle.

The man refused to get out, which police say prompted one of the juveniles to pull a handgun, point it at the man, and again demand that he exit. The man again refused and at that time, the juveniles then fled on foot without taking any of his property.

Additional officers responded to the scene and searched the area for the suspects.

Shortly after, the officers located the two 14-year-old juveniles in the parking deck of 2420 Piedmont Rd, as they were attempting to enter unattended vehicles.

Both suspects were detained without incident and their parents were contacted. With the assistance of the parents, officers say they were able to locate the weapon that the suspects hid prior to police contact.

The suspects were charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Armed Robbery, Entering Auto, and Loitering and Prowling.

Police are reminding residents that if you see something, say something by calling 911 or Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
