Dade County administrator tests positive for coronavirus

Dade County’s top government administrator is in quarantine and the county administration office is closed after the county executive Ted Rumley tested positive for coronavirus Sunday.

Rumley was tested after exhibiting symptoms and finding he had been in contact with another COVID-19 positive person. He immediately self-quarantined and will remain so until released by his physician.

As a precaution, the Dade County Administration Office will be closed to walk in visitors through Friday. The Dade County Administration Office is conducting business and may be reached by telephone at 706-657-4625 or via email at

Due to a reduced office staff county officials are asking that you wait, if at all possible, until next week to conduct your business. According to county officials, Rumley is symptomatic, but is “doing well.”

Dade County has had 749 cases of coronavirus, 7 deaths from coronavirus and 38 hosptializations.
